Description

The MacBook Air 15-inch is currently available in two primary versions: the latest M4 model (released in early 2025) and the M3 model (released in 2024).

The 15-inch model is designed for those who want the screen real estate of a “Pro” laptop without the heavy weight or the higher price tag.

Key Highlights of the 15-inch Model

  • The Display: At 15.3 inches, it provides significantly more room for split-screen multitasking than the 13-inch version. It uses a Liquid Retina panel that is bright and color-accurate, though it lacks the 120Hz ProMotion found on the MacBook Pro.
  • Portability: Despite the larger screen, it is incredibly thin (approx. 11.5mm) and weighs only 3.3 lbs (1.51 kg), making it one of the lightest 15-inch laptops on the market.
  • Audio: Unlike the 13-inch model’s four-speaker system, the 15-inch features a six-speaker sound system with force-cancelling woofers, providing much deeper bass and fuller sound.
  • Battery Life: You can expect up to 18 hours of video playback. In real-world web browsing, it typically lasts around 15 hours.

Which one should you buy?

1. Get the M4 Model if: You want the best possible performance for AI tasks (Apple Intelligence), a better webcam for video calls (Center Stage), or you need more than 24GB of RAM. It also starts with 16GB of RAM as the standard, which is much better for longevity.

2. Get the M3 Model if: You find a great deal or “Open Box” discount. The M3 is still extremely fast for 95% of users and handles everyday multitasking, photo editing, and light video work with ease.

Note: Both models support dual external displays, but only when the laptop lid is closed (clamshell mode).
